Southlight is the Tasmanian-based house music project of Andrew Young and Damien Goundrie.
Southlight’s music reflects broad influences - from disco to techno, soulful to electronic.
Southlight has performed at Sydney’s Parklife festival, NYE at Cafe Del Mar and super club Ivy, and has toured extensively with Hed Kandi Australia.
After releasing a series of singles and EPs from 2013, Southlight released their debut album “Southlight” in October 2019. Featuring the singles, "Love and Happiness", "I'm Feeling" and the Kiss FM #1 ”You + I", the debut album is in the tradition of multi-genre classic dance albums of the past (eg Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx) and reflects Southlight's eclectic influences, writing and production skills.
In 2021, Southlight release "Lovin' All The Time" - a mid tempo track, featuring disco stylings with soulful vocals and big band brass.
In 2022, Southlight teamed up with vocalist Nathan Mahon, for "Waiting for the Day" - an indie dance track with nods to Human League and Pet Shop Boys.
In 2023, Southlight teamed up again with Australia's queen of soul/funk - Kylie Auldist (The Bamboos) for "Trading Up" - an original full vocal disco house track with classic disco percussion, house beats, horn sections and uplifting piano.
